I write comics including Zombies vs Cheerleaders and Grimm Fairy Tales. I also write for the website Giant Nerd Robot. Before going to sleep, I always spend hours reading. It's been a habit since childhood.

Kiss of Fire

Kiss of Fire - Rebecca Ethington This book started out okay but at the half way point got repetitious. I also found the ending very anti climatic. I hate when book don't give any satisfying ending because there is other books. There should be some resolve and something that makes you want to keep reading in my opinion.

Also the character names drove me insane. It felt like the author wanted every single name to sound cool. It made me confused with too many weird names. I would have liked to just see some important characters with special names.

The Darkest Kiss

The Darkest Kiss - Gena Showalter Greek gods meets Indiana Jones? Sure why not? This book was a little silly but I liked it. I kind of like series that pair everyone off. Most likely will read some more of these eventually.

The Dirty Streets of Heaven

The Dirty Streets of Heaven - Tad Williams This book was so good! I loved that it had the feel of an old black and white crime movie. I guess kind of a pulp feel would be the way to put it. The angel stuff was awesome. The idea that there is a trial for your soul was very interesting and I would love to see more about that.

Undead and Unwed

Undead and Unwed - MaryJanice Davidson This was just plain silly and I loved it. I liked that the main character was self centered and concerned about her shoes. The sidekicks made me laugh. The vampire stuff was fairly straight forward but not in a bad way.

A Girl's Guide to Vampires

A Girl's Guide to Vampires - Katie MacAlister Oh man, this book had so many things that annoyed me. The main character was awful. The sidekick was annoying. I didn't want after any of her love choices. The smutty scenes (I read this for my romance book club) were horrible.

Archangel

Archangel - Sharon Shinn Surprised myself by getting fairly into this. It was fairy biblical but I liked the world building. I found the main character to be believable in her situation and I liked the various angel lore.

Guilty Pleasures

Guilty Pleasures - Laurell K. Hamilton As far as vampire hunter type books go, I had trouble getting into this one. I didn't love the main character by a long shot which made the story hard to get into.

Waking Up Dead (Callie Taylor, #1)

Waking Up Dead (Callie Taylor, #1) - Margo Bond Collins This felt like immature, fast writing. Could have been interesting but it turned out being something I just wanted to get through for book club. The grandma was kind of funny.

Allegiant

Allegiant - Veronica Roth Oh man, what an ending to a great trilogy. Four will always been one of my favorite characters. Tris holds true to character and I like the way she handles what happens in this story.

The Longest Ride

The Longest Ride - Nicholas Sparks Got to see Nicholas Sparks in person for the release of this book. Such a great guy. The book was awesome and made me cry a little just like all his books.

Endless Knight

Endless Knight - Kresley Cole Still one of the most inventive apocalypse series I've come across. The Tarot cards continue to be interesting. Also I completely fell in love with the bad guy.

Autumn Bones

Autumn Bones - Jacqueline Carey Just like the first book, this one was great. The mystery and world building made it hard to put down. I actually was reading this during NYCC and remember sitting in bed reading it while all my artist friends worked hard then on the plane I finished it. So good.

Destination Truth

Destination Truth - Josh Gates I can not speak highly enough about how great this book was. If you are a fan of the show, you will love the behind the scenes. If you are a fan of paranormal stuff, you'll eat up that aspect. If you love to travel, you'll love the locations and insights.

The very best part of this to me was the deep look into the theory behind why traveling is important that Gates brings up. This book really got me thinking about how important life experience is and why it is important to see outside of your norm.

The Pledge

The Pledge - Kimberly Derting This book drew me in with the fact that language was a central part to the story. It stayed interesting throughout and left me wanting to know what happens next. It is also a book that I've compared lots of others to in a good way.

Icons

Icons - Margaret Stohl Unexpected is best how I can describe this book. I didn't know what exactly I was getting into and I was pleasantly surprised. I think it best fits under sci-fi but it had some very interesting dystopian stuff as well. Honestly, it even has a bit of a comic book feel to it. I'm excited to see where the series goes.

Black Heart

Black Heart - Holly Black I love this book series so much and the final book did not disappoint. Black created such an awesome crime world meets paranormal that I wish this series would go on for even longer. Cassel is one of my all time favorite characters. Highly recommend this series.
